I consult, design and collaborate with cultural institutions, philanthropic organizations, community-based groups and municipalities in the areas of: strategic planning, communications, change management, board & leadership development, creative placemaking and cultural competency. Art in Praxis is my laboratory.

I love origin stories. My maternal line is an eccentric patchwork quilt of women from what I call, the “Purple Sector” – the DIY, homegrown industries built on sweat equity, cooperative economics, creativity, love and innovation. My grandmother made a profitable business of creating and selling dinners and desserts. My great-grandmother, a factory worker, hosted caberets and chartered buses for day-long excursions to nearby beaches and amusement parks – for many in her community their only opportunities for leisure. My great-great aunt, a school teacher in rural North Carolina in the early 1900′s, taught the women at her church to read and write – under the guise of “bible study”. My mother, a lightbeam in the HIV/AIDS advocacy world, is fighting to hold testing clinics in unconventional spaces and jokes about putting condoms in the collection plate at her church.

As an organization development practitioner (MS, Organization Development, American University), I bring this history with me when I am working alongside nonprofit leaders whose missions call for social justice and liberation.

I am the Edu-Punk Director at Live Unchained, Alternate ROOTS Voting Member, NTL (National Training Laboratories) Institute for Applied Behavioral Science Member, a Reiki Master, Founding Artistic Director of The Saartjie Project (2008-2012), Social Innovation Fellow at StartingBloc and avid supporter of a host of organizations. I’ve received Young Artist Grants from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and was honored by my peers with the American University Hal Kellner Award for Social Justice and the Word, Beats & Life, Inc “Community Champion” Award. I also randomly tell stories on stage and break out into songs from 90′s girl groups.
